Yesterday I compared the neck on a 4001C64S and a late 1980s Model 4003. While I expected to see significant differences in the shape of the neck, I was surprised to see little difference between these necks and they felt almost identical. The back of the C64 neck had smoother action, however, compared to that of my 4003 Silver. Also, the grain on the fretboard of the C64 was a sight to behold. Very wavy and so unique.
