Here is a question from a potential bidder:

"Q: Hi Margaret, thanks for letting me see the guitar if it doesn't sell then I am definately interested at the figure I offered, would you be able to post it on Saturday. Many thanks Ken"

Now why would someone who had just personally inspected a "$15,000" guitar, ask for such a valuable item to be posted?
...And why ask a question that would have undoubtedly been discussed during the inspection?
...And did the potential bidder who inspected it go camping with them... and their 1950s Telecaster?
...And why is it being sold on behalf of her sister, using her brother's account?...Isn't her sister also her brother's sister, or do they just refuse to talk to each other?

Hmmm... lemme think. As it seems, her brother does know something about guitars, while she & her sister don't. That's why the auction looks so ridiculous. But then again... if the brother (the owner of the account) is a guitar pro, why didn't they ask him to appraise this one & write a good description? Okay, let's suggest they don't talk to each other. But then again, if they don't, how did she learn the password to his ebay account?..

Anyway, as far as i understood from what i read, the lady seller is - let's say not very young, so perhaps it could be real... i dunno.

I think the whole thing reads like a Monty Python skit! ANyone who won't get the box opened and get that serial # on the off chance it IS worth 15K is nuts!

I think it is a clever scam: Just get an old, beat up strat (mexico) and take one bad pic, make up a story and voila-obviously, people will take the chance on it!

It just looks like a (Japanese) '52 re-issue to me. It was a scam in my opinion.

On eBay, if it's too good to be true... it probably isn't. We've seen it time after time after time.

So I think it was a scam.

OTOH... I found my 4003 Shadow on Craigslist and the seller didn't have a clue. He asked for $750 OBO, and offered to include a practice amp and a bike.

But in general, granny's attic stories are usually scams.

Having taken the time to read the Q&As and all the history/feedback of the "seller" I can honestly say that I haven't laughed so much for ages. I can only presume that the "buyer" bid high to save someone else from getting stung. She (the seller) did well to neg him at 6AM this morning as she doen't actually get back from her "camping holiday" until tomorrow. Pity I didn't see this auction earlier as I only live 1 hour away and could have viewed the packed box personally, but then she had conveniently gone on holiday hadn't she.

I've never seen such a hilarious/blatent attempt to rip people off in all my life.
