Why does my 325 buzz?

Post by grinch »

Here's the situation...

Recently my 325 has developed a pretty bad buzz to it. I don't know why. When I play a string, I can hear the bridge rattle. And, it doesn't have rollers on it - it's a modern bridge.

Does anyone know why this is happening? I've got Pyramid Gold heavy strings on it, and the action is great. I just can't stand the buzz.

Nick, did you adjust the trussrods after you put the Pyramids on it? They usually add more tension.

I actually figured it out. I had some vintage bridge adjustment screws on there, the ones with O-rings. They were rattling like crazy. I switched them out for the modern spring-type, and the problem is gone.

I don't know how other people don't have that problem with vintage bridges, but oh well!

Nick, they were rattling because not all 4 were contacting the plate. The trick if you want to keep the O-rings and originality is to tension all 4 so they contact the plate properly and then put a tiny drop of red LocTite on all 4 screws where they thread into the bridge. Next day, no more rattle.

I sometimes detect the same condition with every object in the room...and occasionally with the air itself...

This was probably a model originally supplied with the Rick-O-Bees option. You need to cut an ƒ hole in the top of the guitar to let the bees out. It works every time.
Show him the shirts, Adrian.

This operation should not be attempted by an amateur...it should only by tackled by pros like Dr. Jingle Jangle.

For one thing, you need one of those funny hats with the little net hanging down...or at least a fencing mask.

And if the bees don't wanna come out, ya gotta smoke 'em out...

Hmmm...be careful, too much smoking out & the bees may take up fencing.
Plus five minus five!
