Ok, that's cool. I can deal with that!

So, no blow torch when I do my soldering huh? Image

I might have to consider a retrofit of the side binding on my 4003FL now. I'd much rather play it than my other fretless basses.

If they sell it let me know Jeffrey, I don't think so.

There'd be a line if you were to sell that high gain, Tony.

You think so Dave? I thought they were easy enough to come by.

I've had a few 4003's and a 4001 with the High-gains in the neck position. They all seemed to be missing SOMETHING, I couldn't put my finger on it.

My first Ric was my CS, so I guess I judge other RICS in comparison to it. I also have a V63 and I love it too! The other's just fell short, and I thought it was because of the Horse shoe. That was until my 06 4003 Monty with the toaster. That was the clincher. I guess that was the sound I was searching all along, that toaster sound.

It is hard to beat a toaster.

BTW, does anyone have a pic of somebody beating a dead toaster?

Hey Joey.

For what it is worth, I just saw a new 4003MB FL at the POTR, now with the walnut wings.

Dave, please don't tell me that it looks better with the walnut ears, I've convinced myself that MB looks better with maple ears. LOL

Honestly, with the MB finish, it was really hard to even notice it.

I never cared for walnut ears on MB's.

Better contrast with the maple methinks...

The MB is largely dark (nice like that) and the walnut tends to just add more dark, IMO

I really like how the walnut looks on the AFG though!

Well,

I took my Monty out for the first time tonight. It was a BLAST to play, it felt (and sounded) so GOOD!

I couldn't get over HOW MANY people came over to look at the bass and lavished many compliments regarding it's look & sound. MANY of them were under 20! Future RIC addicts, I'm sure!

The look on their faces were priceless!

Ben, I agree about the better contrast on the MG, that's why I have a MG V63! But, my Monty is just Soooooooooooo sexy. Image I wouldn't change a thing on it, well, the exception of adding a HS to it.
