Beautiful bass! If that was the C.A.R. finish, we'd have done the deal already! Folks, these are great basses. The C.A.R. one I foolishly traded was amazing. And they're drying up quick. And yes John, matching headstock. Mmmm, tasty!
From my understanding the CAR finish was the first of the 3 70's reissue's that was a true 75 RI with an ash body. The LPB, and Oly white came later. They where meant for export to Europe but most remained here in the US. I owned the CAR, but didn't care much for the finish. I like seeing wood, so that's why the Oly white is going to fund a natural 75 RI with the rosewood fretboard. The CAR and the Oly are great players as well, with top notch quality.
Here's a picture of the complete run, although the Oly white in this picture is without the matching headstock. Mine has it.
John, if you don't like Jazz basses, what was your "wow" in response to?
Did somebody step on your foot or sumthin'?
“I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did.”
― Kurt Vonnegut
There's a few Sonic Blue ones from that series floating around too. Well documented over at the Fender Forum. They're pretty too, but the C.A.R. and then the White are just the nuts!
