Keith, even though the dealer said it had been in a case for the last year, with you reporting uneven color changes that suggests it has been on display and received uneven exposure to light to cause the varied greenish tint. That only comes from the CV being exposed to light.

I'm just wondering.... How long are we going to beat this one to death? Few more days? Few more weeks? Maybe Peter should start a new section called: Whine Whine Whine? I knew exactly why you had only a period in your post Thomas, I have done the same thing. I think half of these should have had that done to them also. I am not taking sides, just saying enough already.

Keith - you said you had until today to get back to the dealer. What did you end up doing?

'Enough already' comes when there is nothing left to say on a subject.

In Keith's position I would return the bass to the dealer and get another Ric from elsewhere. There is nothing like getting something from a dealer that you didn't order. I believe the dealer is solely at fault for not pointing out that the bass was no longer blue.

My own 4003BB has spent the majority of the time since it has been constructed lying in its case and fortunately / luckily shows NO sign of colour change - as yet. I do accept that this may happen over time and will live with it when it happens. No axe to grind on this one!

All I can say is that in the one time I had a problem with a Ric bass I e-mailed JH personally and got a prompt and courteous answer. Perhaps instead of complaining openly here in the forum you guys might want to try that or try the dealer or whoever supposedly made this earth shattering mistake.

There is no question that JH deals with things promptly and courteously (he does) and that customer service is the way to go (it is).

If you go back through the thread, Keith mentioned he has had words with the dealer about the bass not being as described (that being the actual issue, it's not a problem with Ric at all) and he was making up his mind what to do.

I'm sure it will all draw to a close for you shortly. ;-)

Bob (Young), you do realize that whining about percieved whining is still whining, right? ;)

If I had known that refinishing my 4004Ls to blue was an option available to me when I bought them, I'd have done it. FWIW, YMMV.

If you don't tell us... if we can't see it... we can't do anything!

COY 2007 Cave Ripened Blue Cheese, imagine how long the thread would be about the smell?
