Paul, I sure like your idea of a burst pattern! Can't wait to see that green 325 finished, buffed out, and all set up.

That Combo 400 probably never looked that good before - remember todays finishes look better than 50 years ago.

I'd be jealous of the 730L gift, but some people deserve such considerations and some don't. You are in the former group, I the latter.

Keep up the stunning work.

Absolutely, Ron! Not my cup of tea but beautifully done and I'm sure it's gonna look pretty swank when it's buffed up and had the hardware put on.

Any special plans for that Laramie? And is it a 12 or a 6? I can only see 6 pins at the bridge but the 12-string slots at the headstock.

I had the pleasure of meeting Bill Yantz today in person. If you remember, Paul restored his '69 365 OS in Azure-glo. Bill brought the guitar and man, is it nice! Flawless. Super job Paul!

That looks an awful lot like the poor quality Paintshop jpg "fooling around with turquoise glo" idea I posted a few months back when Melibee was thinking refinishing!! Of course THIS is much more incredible. This turned out totally dreamy. Wow, wow, wow. I LOVE the turquoise burst! That color is to me what Meli's Purpleburst is to her. That is my all time favorite burst on any guitar I have seen to date.

Now to set the record straight on all three instruments...

The 325 is not emerald, it is turquoise. Emerald is the color of grass...turquoise has more blue in it, like the gemstone of the same name. I most often hear turquoise referred to as "turquoise blue".

The 730L is a 12, with a 12-pin bridge.

Len's Combo 400 is refinished with old-fashioned black and clear nitrocellulose lacquer ("nitro"), not a new-type catalyzing finish. Nitro, properly applied in many coats with much sanding in between, returns a finish of terrific gloss. An original C400, back in 1957, would have had a sprayed finish, fewer coats, and no buffing. This guitar, done that way, looked duller than we are used to these days, so it was treated to a couple extra steps. Now it can hold its own against any old Gibbie or Fender...

I, too, loved Bill's Azureglo and almost hated to give it back to him! Someday I'll pick up another WB or OS 360 and do it in AZ. The one I have right now is going to be refinned in Ruby, its original color.

Paul, What's the difference between Aqua and Turquoise?

Could the 325's color qualify as Aqua?

I like the name "Aquaglo" better than "Turquoiseglo".

Yes, we could call it "aqua". Color names such as this are somewhat arbitrary. They are given as synonyms in Roget's.

That's the word thing. The color thing is slightly different. I've always seen aqua as a lighter shade of turquoise.

I like "Aquaglo" better, too. "Turquoiseglo" is a clumsy mouthful...
