Timely. I just got the new neck for my '98 RI longhorn.

Bass Player magazine just did a review of the new RIs.

The bass is great. Perfect neck... very low action with zero buzzing or dead spots. Great tone... more punchy than the ric... tighter lows and more low mids. Really cuts through a band situation well. My band complimented it's tone... very nice low mid growl. I do find the highs a tad thin though. Great balance.

A great looking, great sounding, great playing bass. It's neck rivals the quality and playability of any 1000-2000$ bass. It really is that good.

They are a lot of fun to play.I have adjusted my rods a couple of tines and it is a nuisance to have to take the neck off....and I have the older style bridge ( which works fine if it is in the sweet spot) Other than that it is what it is.

They are great little basses.

Has anyone here heard of the Dynelectron copies? The singer/organ player in my band has one. It's a fun bass to play, sounds pretty cool too (I've never played a real one). I've even used it for recording a track.

The Dynelectrons were available in the UK in the 80's if I remember right...

There was a little guitar shop in town here (since gone out of business) that had a solid white Longhorn that I almost bought but bought a Jazz bass instead. The Jazz is a great player and is my back up to my Ric but I wonder if I'd taken that Dano..................?
I'd rather die while I'm livin' that live while I'm dead!

I don't know about anyone else but I would not buy a bass that you needed to take the neck off to adjust the truss rods.

The Longhorn is a superb bass for players who typically tickle 6 strings instead of 4. I adore mine.

They sound good and are pretty but I'd buy a Jerry Jones before I'd buy one of those unless I got it really cheap. I've actually wanted one and have almost bought one several times but the lousy engineering always stopped me.
