Hey, welcome to the Ric Forum, John! Image This is the best, friendliest place to hang out online....

I grew up in Duluth, and am very, very familiar with the iron range, as both of my parents are "Rangers", and most of my extended family still lives there....

Steve, my husband and I lived in Ely for about a year too, shortly after we were married.... I had always enjoyed visiting there, but did NOT like living there at all.... Absolutely frigid cold in the winter (one morning it was 50 below--that's farenheit!), and miserably buggy in the summer--we couldn't go outside without getting swarmed by black flies.... Grand Marais is MUCH nicer, LOL! Image

Melissa,
Thanks for the welcome. I remember the mosquitos, Deer and Horse Flies! We had a cabin on Bay Lake, and my grandparents had one near Emily (not as far north as you), though I played in a hockey tournament or two against UMD nearer your neck of the woods. No bugs that time of year!
Am currently planning on going to CA in August (thanks to Frequent Flier Miles)!
PS - Others have mentioned your guitars. Can you direct me to any URLs or threads that show them? Thanks.

Cool, John.... I'll be looking forward to meeting you in Calfornia then--perhaps we can do a praise jam session? Image Frequent flier miles are the reason we can do this trip, too, LOL!

My guitars.... What to say about my guitars! For the sake of convenience I'll post a few pics here.... These are some of my favorites.

330 Purpleburst (PW refin) and 325v59 TQ:

220 MID and 481 BBR (also PW refin):

1967 365 FG and 1992 360/12 FG:

381v69 MG:

Also see pics of my 700 Comstock acoustic at www.melibee.com.

The only reason I have any of these beautiful guitars is because my dear husband loves to spoil me rotten, LOL! And I sure do love to play them....

Melissa,
Thank you so much, the guitars are teriffic...not to mention your hubby! I'll look forward to meeting you and others in CA. A jam session sounds great; I guess we can deal with any necessary details as the date draws closer.
BTW, since I'm pretty new to this forum, I assume that the "PW refin" is Paul Wilczynski, aka "Jingle_jangle"...just stunning work!

Yep, John.... I consider myself to be well-blessed on many fronts! Image

The refins are indeed Paul's handiwork....he does an amazing job on all of his projects.... I am certainly very, very happy with mine!

Melissa, I've been around for a while and that's the first I've seen your collection. I knew you had a few, but wow! Very nice, well-rounded collection.

What, no basses?! :D

Oh, that's not the whole collection, John! Those are just my favorites. I have 13 Rics total (but one of them, a 330 MID, is sold and awaiting delivery to its new owner later this summer).... My bass is a jetglo 4001v63. The other guitars not pictured are a jetglo 330/12, a jetglo model 1997, and a September 1969 Electro ES-17 in Fireglo, which my husband bought for me because it was made the month I was born! Image

Awesome and sweet of your hubby! My wife, bless her, never flinched when I announced last year I wanted a Rick after 34 years of not playing, and then yesterday when I mentioned I was going to get John Biscuti's 4004Ci. So I don't know if that means I want a little variety or am starting my own collection!! :D I still would like a nice 4001 just to have one.....

So you are going from a baker's dozen (sounds better than unlucky 13!) to an even dozen. Really nice array of instruments. And a bass! ;)

I couldn't afford a Rick in the month/year I was born... 2/52!!!

I look forward to seeing your 330PB(PW) in August!

All,

I ran across a Band called Eisley the other day. You can find them at http://www.eisley.com/

They don't bill themselves as a Christian band, but on their website they say that they're Christians.

And yes, the pictures show one of them using a Rick 360/6...Enjoy

Interesting thread. I used Rics all over church for the last 14 years or so and even played one while sitting in on tour with Tree63...There is picture of that one on my myspace page...

Too cool, Jaymi.... You toured with Tree 63? I LOVE that band!

The worship team that I play with rocks on their song "Blessed Be Your Name." But we jangle more, thanks to me, LOL! Image

Jaymi, I just followed your Myspace link and checked out the song "Promise..." I like it! Lots of nice Rickenbass clank in there! Who was the singer/group you were playing with?

I'm not famous, but in our contemporary church service and CD we're working on, I use a '67 360/12, '96 360/12 and a '92 4001V63. All FG :-D
