Doesn't the vinyl version of the album have detailed liner notes about each track?

Indeed it does, however it only tells you general information not what fx pedal he's using.
If the truth can be told, so as to be understood, it will be believed.

He used an old Eventide unit. Don't know the model number. Used basically as a chorus effect. That combined with a Mutron envelope filter - used throughout OTSWOF and DKTW. The brassmaster has always been his main fuzz unit.

OK, I have not looked at my copy in years as it is packed away. - no turntable. :-/ I remembered there being a fair amount of detail in the liners but apparently it is not enough to answer the question.

I just looked at the liner notes a couple days ago to see what songs he used the Thunderbird on (question from another thread) and all it says is harmonized Rickenbacker.

I thought that Miguel did a great job with this sound on his version of Future Times:

I had asked before how he did it there, but no real answer. Maybe just an envelope filter?

Hi Greg, at the time I used a Crybaby bass wah and a Boss CE-3 Chorus. Now we all know that Chris used the Mutron III pedal and possibly the harmonizer to provide the chorus effect.
Almost 7 years later I found this thread :)

I too have the vinyl version of Tormato.
When reading the liner notes, "Harmonized Rickenbacker Bass" is as close as you're going to get as to what effects he used.

IIRC, he used the Thunderbird on "Release Release". Of course, I could be wrong about that.........

In my early teens, I got heavily into synth DIY and effects projects... mainly because I couldn't afford to buy them. One of the things I built was basically an envelope filter, and I had given that to my teacher as a Christmas gift. He was a jazz guitarist/bassist, and always tried his best to be tolerant of my wanting to play Yes and Zep instead of Real Book standards :D (I came around eventually). The next week he brought in a box of old effects that he gave to me - two Crybabys, a ram's head Big Muff, and still my absolute favorite- a Sola Sound wah.

Anyway, the filter I built was part of my attempt at the "On the Silent Wings of Freedom" sound. I'd run it with an Ibanez bc9 chorus (one of the few "real" effects I did have). Tormato always makes me think of that story.

Never knew until now what he really used on that album.

That's what I recall too, from the liner notes

Interesting Pete, never been a pedal man but, does the Line 6 do a Supa Fuzz and the Brassmaster sounds also.
