Chorus Pedal woes
Not sure if this is the right area to post this or not. I was hoping somebody could help me out. I have a Boss Chorus Pedal (a CE-5) that I put my acoustic through regularly when I play. After my last gig, I was tearing down and found that I couldn't remove the cable from the input jack. The cable comes out about 3/4 of the way and then it is stuck. I tried opening up the back of the pedal but I can't do anything inside -the jack is sealed. Any suggestions?
Some jacks have an internal switch that is activated by the shaft of the 1/4" plug. As the plug is inserted, a spring loaded lever is pushed out of the way, and activates a switch. The switch remains in this position while the plug remains, and switches back when the plug is removed. If this lever becomes bent too far into the plugs's path, it can become stuck on the indent of the tip. If you have a sealed jack, it can be too difficult to bend the lever to remove the jack. If you try to remove the plug, the lever may break, though the pedal may still work. If the lever breaks, either your battery will go flat as the pedal will always think it's plugged in, or the pedal will not work because the battery will stop connecting.
I'd buy a spare jack before attempting to forcibly pull the plug out, so you can replace it immediately if needed.

Two wrongs don't make a right, but three rights do make a left.

Bill, what kind (brand) of cord were you using? Just asking because I've got a Planet Waves cord that does not fully engage in some jacks. Meaning, the little point on the positive jack piece doesn't seat itself into the groove on the plug tip for some reason. It does make the connection OK enough, but doesn't "lock in" if that makes sense. It also seems really tight when plugged in and is a bit more difficult to remove than it should be.
Other cords I've got work perfectly as they should.
