Hi Everyone:

This is my first post on the Ric Forum and I only found out about it from a prior customer who said that my 4001S was being discussed here.

Well that was Saturday Night and I have been following the posts and have discussed it away from the forum with Fran4001.

I would like to thank Fran for pointing out that I had the A/D strings slack for some of the pictures (because I had just put her back together from the photographs of the inner workings).

Let me assure all of you that the neck is straight and the action is good and she plays fine!!! Oh yeah, the nut is not fookaka....

I am very aware that the infamous "Emperor26" is bidding on it, but I seriously doubt that he will be the winning bidder as he is a notorious "low-baller"!!!

Finally, I would like to thank all that have taken the time to post their comments about it and hope a real Ric (Beatle/Yes) fan gets it.

Jim, in the picture under the guard, does that say 4000 - with a mark that looks like a 1 or does it say 40001 ?

Alright Jim! Thanks for stopping in, in spite of my faux pas Saturday night! Obviously we're all pretty much in love with the bass it seems! If I knew about this one in mid-April I think I would have jumped on it first, and saved the V63 I just got for the next conquest. Oh well. Needless to say we're all watching this one, and rooting for a "local" to get it in our midst. Really fine looking piece of wood.

The rout area on the MG looks different from that on my 1975 4001S WHT:

The other difference between mine and the MG is that mine has a Model 4000 truss rod cover:

Is the 4000 trc original?

Yes. I bought the bass from the original owner who was a Rickenbacker dealer back then; he ordered it from the factory for himself and kept it, hardly played, until he sold it to me.

It is generally believed that the 4001S basses from this era started out as model 4000s (plural) that had the extra pickup added. Mine just seems to have held onto that part of its heritage!
