Beatles Tribute Bands

There are lots of them, thats for sure.

Continuing on from the discussion on the other thread....

RAIN looks good, and (to the extent that we can judge by this) their web sound clips sound a bit more authentic than The ReTurn. But the Return sure has it over Rain in the looks department. Rain's righty "Paul" is unfortunate for that band.

The biggest difference is that Rain attempts to do the Beatles of all eras,

I'd like to see them both but if I had to pick one I'd certainly take The ReTurn because of their setlist.... VERY cool selection and I'd rather see a band stick to the early stuff instead of trying to do every Beatles era.

Gary Hahlbeck who runs Northcoast Music (and Sonic speakers) is the "5th Britin" playing keyboards in the Milwaukee Beatles tribute band, "The Britins" http://www.thebritins.com. Gary plays all that fancy midi stuff, even has a clap set up to add to certain tunes. The odd thing about the Britins is the lefty George and righty Paul. They have great sound and near-perfect arrangements. Great fun!

I saw Rain in Vancouver at the Cave Supper Club many years ago. They were unbelievably perfect (except for Paul being right handed).

I have seen other tribute bands over the years and none have matched Rain in terms of perfection yet. To sound exactly like the record in all eras that are in their set list, is a very hard thing to do but they pulled it off.

I would rate this band very very high as well, They are as a must see, if they come to your town or city.

Anyone know if Ricky Vacca is still in Beatlemania Now? He's still advertised on the website as being Paul. I've seen his name bandied about here and I thought I'd try and make a pitstop to see the band on my vacation if he's still in the band. GREAT Paul in my opinion.

Oh and I KNOW Rain makes some otherwordly Beatles sounds, but check out this band. For my money that is the most convincing Paul McCartney I've ever seen or heard...

wow... the Fab Four sound great, look good, and you're right that the Paul is very convincing (George a little less so). So for they might have my vote as the best re-creation of the real thing.... but only so far since I think we've only scratched the surface on this subject.

I still think I'd love to see The ReTurn because of their extra-oldie setlist.

These are the guys I used to see in the Boston / southern NH area around 1987. They were great then and apparently are still at it. Definitely one of the top tribute bands. Back they they were "1964 As The Beatles" but were forced to change the name for legal reasons.

I saw the Fab Four in Vegas last January.
WOW! I agree "Paul" was very convincing... and "John" blew me away when he came out in the white suit, long hair, granny glasses and sang Imagine. "George" is actually English.
Incidently, I was staying across the street from the Aladdin at the Bellagio and Sunday morning in the lobby when I was getting ready to leave for the airport, the desk paged Paul McCartney.
That was really weird.

Saw '64 in Colorado Springs. First (and only) Beatles tribute show I've seen so far. I guess Seattle's supposed to have a really good one and Louise Harrison's group (I think it's called the Fab Four) are supposed to be good as well.

If Classical Mystery Tour ever comes your way, see them. "John" is perfect, right down to the walk. And don't forget Ronn Roberts, who posts here often, is in The Eggmen.

I'd love to start such a band. I play bass, and I know at least three other guitarists and a drummer. I don't think it's that important that the players all look and dress like the Fabs as long as they recreate the songs faithfully. Nor do I think it's important to keep the number to four, especially if you want to recreate the later studio-only songs. You'd need keys for that. Will Lee of the Lettermen band is in The Fab Faux, and they make no attempt to look like the originals, but they do the music to a T.
