I think it's assumed, as Ken's original post was mentioning how much he liked the new 4003's, and Ben and John were responding to that.

Plus, many of the bass-playing forumites were disappointed that the new instrument for the 75th anniversary was the 1996 guitar and that there was no special or new bass. JH and BH know this and have apparently given us something to look forward to! (I'm a guitar/bass player but don't go for the short scale Ricks too much, so the 1996 was no biggie for me - even though it looks great.)

But they have also said the 1996 was it in terms of new models. The new bridge is a pretty safe bet I think, but clearly there is more going on than that.

They are far too good at teasing us and we are far too good at reacting to it.
