'81 4001S

Post by hillsidebass »

I just traded for an '81 4001S...I think? It has a set neck, no binding, mono jack, black pickguard and dots. It's white faded out to a really nice bannana yellow. I'm not planning on keeping it, so would like to know for sure what it is so I'll have an accurate description when I sell it.

Yes. If its a set neck, its a 4001S and not a 4003S.

Unless it has one pickup and two knobs, in which case it would be a 4000.

Sounds like a cool bass. Why wouldn't you want to keep it?

I'm sure there are plenty of people here that would take it off your hands.

If it's painted, how do you know it's a set neck?

Go to Rics site and plug in the serial number to find out what year it really is.

The heal looks different on a Rick set neck bass, Scott.

Does anybody have a pic of one?

Doh! That's right, it's recessed.
