660/12 Turquoise - took the plunge

Hey folks. After waiting 15 months for a BBR 660/12, I took a detour and bought a 2003 turquoise one instead. The TUR was the color that got me into the hunt for a 660/12 at the start. (Dig the gold against the green) I liked the BBR but have never seen the finish in person like most of you all. I'll send pics of my TUR when I get it. Finally, I be able to participate in this forum as a Ric OWNER rather than as a wanna be. Cheers! Tim

Do you already have it or are you waiting for it to arrive? I just got a few month old Mapleglo 660/12 so my guess is you're gonna be happy with it. It's hard to go to the wider neck from my 450/12 though.

You have excellent taste in color schemes (this one's mine...)!

BTW, to my eye, Ric turquoise looks quite a bit more green than the color I would normally call "turquoise".... It's certainly much greener than the gemstone, which is more of an aqua blue.

I'm curious, is the 2003 shade of turquoise the only rick turquoise color? I saw a reference to a vintage turquoise once. Is this the same color? The vintage vibe is what drew me to it.

Tim,
I remember seeing 'vintage turquoise' in reference to the 650A Atlantis, but I've never seen one in person, let alone side-by-side with a different model designated (regular) 'turquoise'. Look at how much the color of the finish in the two above photos differ. Now I'm not sure if (maybe the second one?) is a 'vintage', but I do know that true colors are notoriously poorly reproduced by computer screens. Digital pictures I've taken of my turquoise 660/12 look far different from the actual guitar held next to the monitor.
If you're worried that you'll be disappointed in the color of your new guitar, don't be! I can tell you, when you open that case for the first time (and every time after that), you're going to be a happy camper, and once you've actually got it in your hands and start playing--even happier. It's a really solid, solid player's guitar, easy on the back (surprisingly lightweight) and even easier on the eyes. Enjoy!

Paul, may I contest? With all due respect, turquoise is neither blue nor green. It is turquoise. "Metallic teal blue" if you're not into the whole brevity thing. Back me up on this, JB.

PS: Having taken digital pictures of my turquoise guitars, I know the difference between using/not using a flash is huge.

WOw, beautiful guitars. Maybe it's just me, but I would never have thought of turquoise as a guitar color, then i see pictures like these and, "hmmm, looks beautiful". Kind of grows on you.

Then again, I sometimes think they could come out with models in "DirtClodGlo" and people (prob including me) would wait long periods of time to get one...
