I will 4-2-5 almost anything ... but a 4003 makes more since mainly because it costs half as much ... also I the the C64 has the same nut and fretboard width but it is more of a D shape than the 4003 ...

I would have no problem seeing a C64 4-2-5'd but the tuner holes would have to be filled and re-drilled for Vintage Schaller Ricky tuners, followed by a headstock re-fin. At this point though, we might see why JH has moved the pickup to 1" spacing on current 4003's.

Moving the pickup to the 1 inch spacing puts the pickup under one of the harmonics, so I've heard. They did this to improve the sound (though the 1/2 inch spacing looks cooler)

I happen to LIKE Cheetos..And I certainly don't get them from the roach coach..Also,define "so many"...You "paint" me in a bad light Ben..I guess no more Metallic CheetoGlo paint jobs from now on.

Sell off all of your old Ricks and go for the unbelievably, fantabulously, comfortable thin, new neck profile.

Email me personally offline and I'll take all of those obese,fat necked Blackstars, Redheads, Tuxedo's, CS4001's, Cheyenne's, Lemmy's, ect.....off of your hands. You'll have to sell them cheaply of course, do to the fact that the new neck profile will definatley be superior.

Steve, I hope you're right. I have a 4003 AFG on order and the only thing that would make it better would be the slim neck.

Eric: Can you comment on the finishing process in terms of its duration and also briefly discuss how changes in weather, if any, might provide challenges to the Rickenbacker finish?
