4th of July

The 4th and basses have four strings (traditionally) how more symbolic can you get? OK I’m reachin.. Anyhow to the nation that brought us the modern democratic experiment, the slinky and Rickenbacker guitars (among other things) – Happy Birthday!! And as others have said, let’s remember those who have gone before and are out there now serving so that we can have the freedom to sit around and squabble and play music pretty much however we want to. And to the neighbors to the north – a belated Happy Canada Day – man this North American continent can really party when it wants to…. Enjoy the celebrations and if you have a gig going today – have fun!!!

Happy 4th to all who celebrate!
A little while ago, we watched the shuttle take off. First on TV, then we ran outside to watch it soar through the sky. What an amazing thing to behold.
I'm almost a 1 1/2 hour drive south of the Cape, and it STILL can be seen clearly with the naked eye. My daughter said it best, "you can't have a better display than a REAL rocket taking off for the 4th of July"!
Very cool indeed!

"What a picture! If that doesn't make you feel something akin to patriotism, Jack, you dead!"
It sure makes me feel patriotic -- knowing that the robotic arm on that shuttle was made right here in Canada! Oh wait, maybe that's not what you meant!
So, actually we're either dead or part of the 90% of the world that DOESN'T live in the U.S.! (Sorry, just teasing - I couldn't resist!)

Dreaming of one day owning a Fender bass is like dreaming of one day driving a Chevrolet Impala.
As somewhat sentient beings I think we all should be proud that something like the shuttle, arm etc., would be produced from our fervent imaginations. Not all nations have the wherewithal or expertise to participate directly; but projects like the ISS should be a source of pride to all on the planet.

Hear, hear. Most people are ignorant to the fact that the US space program costs a paltry 16 billion a year (barely a drop in the bucket relative to overall US gov't expenditures), and are so quick to criticise the program as a waste. At the very least the program is inspirational. At it's best, only our imaginations limit us...
It's ironic that the same people fail to knock the government for all the ways in which they waste real money.
Heh Fred you might like to know that there are a total of 3 Canadarms flying right now - two on Discovery (RMS and OBSS) and one on space station (SSRMS). Three times as cool.
