Beatles In Vegas
Brammy: Can't you hear Eric's distinctive tambourine style on 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'? Few people know that Ringo taught Eric how to play the blues, and that it was actually Ringo playing on several of Cream's biggest hits (i.e. 'White Room', 'Sunshine Of Your Love', etc). Ringo perfected his guitar style while playing summers at Butlins Holiday Camp with Rory Storme And The Hurricanes. During the early 1960's graffiti popped up all over Butlins proclaiming that 'Ringo Is God'. May I please stop now?
Ok, ok... you have me convinced. Johnny Guitar from The Hurricanes must have been the one that gave Ringo his start .... it all makes perfect sense now.
Besides, what probably happened is that there were multiple takes of "WMGGW" from both Ringo and also Eric. I have it on good authority that George Martin chose to use Ringo's version on the album as a way of making amends for the Andy White 'Love Me Do' incident. Eric's version can be heard on some rare bootlegs.

Brammy: That's what I heard too. George Martin felt so bad about giving Ringo the 'tambourine treatment' early on, that he let Ringo pull the same trick on Eric. It really wasn't fair, because Eric hadn't done anything to deserve it. Later Eric got his revenge by stealing George's wife Patti. After all, it had been George who set-up Eric by inviting him to the "WMGGW" session. Eventually, John and Paul had to quit the band to break the escalating cycle of pranks. That's the story that nobody's telling...
So where were you yesterday when I needed help with your story Randy. Just my luck that late last night and today you show up in full force.
We could have had days and days of fun with it. Now we'll have to wait another 6 months before some poor unsuspecting soul falls prey.

Yup, thats what my sources tell me too. With John and Paul gone, it appears that the 3-guitar lead on 'The End' was done by Ringo, Eric, and Mal Evans. Good old Mal was an accomplished musician in his own right as evidensed by his stunning alarm clock work on 'A Day in the Life'.
Life at EMI was tense in those days. At one point George got so annoyed with Yoko that he told her to go stick a bag over her head. Unfortunately for the rest of the world, she took him literally.

The Beatle pranks used to get so bad that George Martin would vent his frustrations by saying "My sweet lord, cant guy guys EVER get serious?". Apparently that expression caught on with George Harrison.
But the EMI producers had the last laugh in the prank department when they stuck 'Her Magesty' onto the end of the Beatles' otherwise brilliant final album.
