I need to get a tug-bar from Pickguardian for my 4001V72 project. Tony makes them in several different lengths. Could someone help me out by measuring the distance between the screw holes on their finger rest(center to center) please?
Jeff, My '72 4001 does have the original tug bar. I can't measure it for you just yet, because for once I'm here in the States and the guitar is back in Oz. I'll be back next weekend and I'll measure it up for you then.
Jeff - 1&1/8 on my '68, and 1&1/4 on my '64. So there you have 4 different measurements thus far! Sounds like you're best off waiting to hear from Darren.
Thanks for your help guys. Since RIC used different sized tug-bars, I would expect that the smaller pickguard years(like '72) would have a smaller tug-bar as well.
But as we all know...RIC didn't necessarily make every unit the same back then.
Remember too, that these were all hand cut and drilled.
A variance of 1/16" is not uncommon on two made one after the other. Even with pick-guards, no two from that era are alike;
you can never get the screw holes to line up on a guard from a different bass.
Jeff, I'm back home now. From the centre of each screw mine measures 32 millimetres. I'm sorry but I don't know what that is in imperial measurement...I'm sure someone here can help out.
