No if they only made an all tube amp like that, I'd be all over it.

Greg, I had a good price going on the B200r but the company kept pushing the backorder date back, seems that these are in short supply. I did some research and decided I wanted to try something different so I ordered an Eden Nemesis combo with two 12" drivers. This is their "budget" line gear and it was still more than the B200r, but I read some good reviews and I am very interested in seeing how the two 12's are going to sound. This is going to be more transparent sounding than the Ampeg but I have a sansamp rbi to add some "grit". I'll come back to this thread and post a review next week.

Thanks Mark. One chain here in New England has 6 of these in stock, so there are some around. Let us know how you like the Eden when you get it.

I just picked up a B200R today, for $599 about an hour drive away. I've been playing all night tonight and I love it! What a deep, rich tone. A huge upgrade for me, since I only had an Ibanez 35W amp before (I kept that so I can play around with Ric-O-Sound stereo to 2 amps...maybe send the neck pup output to that one). The low notes really didn't come out of that one at all, and I had it cranked up almost all the way to play.

I've been looking around for awhile now and was interested in the Line 6 Amps, but the more I heard the less interested I was (late to be released, cheaply built supposedly).

Glad to finally have the Ampeg/Ric combo!!

Scott,

What settings do you use for the classic "growling" Ric tone? Combo of the amp and Ric settings would be great.

Thanks!

I usually boost the mids and highs, go through a Sansamp for a touch of distortion, and run my 4003 wide open, sometimes rolling off the high end of my bridge pickup. ( I use a pick usually, by the way).

Scott, were you able to turn your gain control on your B200R up all the way, without getting the peak LED illuminated? I can, and I just wonder what that says about the output from my Rick's pickups. It says in the manual that The gain should be turned up (while playing) until the peak LED barely comes on. In my case, the peak LED never comes on and the green signal LED occassionally (rarely) lights up. I am plugged into the 0 dB input.

Thanks

With the master down all the way, I turn up the gain while slapping down on the "E" string, I usually get to about 4 on the gain knob when the red LED starts blinking. Then I adjust the master volume to my liking.

Strange. I was also wondering if going through my pedals could take away some of the signal. I have 4 Boss pedals (3 effects and a chromatic tuner), which are usually all off. Tonight, I'll try to plug straight into the amp and see if there is a difference.

Didn't make a difference pulling the pedals out of the mix. I wonder about my pickup outputs now. Hmmm.

No, it's working (good for Ampeg, bad for Ric). I plugged my old Seiwa Rockman into it and it only gets up to 4 on the gain before the red LED lights up.

I did take my 4003 to get a setup today, and asked them to measure the output of the pickups, so I can see if it's any better when I get it back.
