Having posted my Walnut Rick on eBay, I started sending emails making my intentions of buying an Ampeg B-15R known (to set on top of my Ampeg B-15E 1-15 re-issue extension cabinet, ser.# AKIDJ70001)!

Guitar Center in Eugene Oregon contacted me and said they'd found two new Store Floor units in East Coast stores.
The asking price is $1349.99! Oh ya, plus $9.00 shipping! 117 lbs., from the East Coast! Their cool.
With my Walnut Rick selling at $1045.00, I took my 800w Peavey MAX and 412-TFX down to them last Saturday and they offered $325.00 for the pair. Very cheep, but a perfect down payment to start the Ampeg Bass Amp shipping to me. It will arrive in Eugene in about seven days.

I can't wait! My rig will look like this:

I think with my 72 Rick and Alembic(sacrilege) it will sound awesome.

My first Bass Amp was a Ampeg B-18N, the head never did work though and before I could afford to fix it, I traded it and my first Bass (Gibson Ripper) for my 72 FireGlo 4001!

So this will be my first All-Tube Rig! I'm stoked.
I've had a friend of mine's Ampeg B-100R at my house for a couple months and have loved the sound of it(SS-designed to sound like vintage tubes).

I'll have the B-15R in a week or so and will post some pics and let you all know how it sounds.

Yes the sale is working out. Winning bid was $1045.00
He maid two payments to PayPal, $790.00 and $235.00 I'm waiting to ship until both are cleared into my Bank account. It should clear by wednesday. And then clear PayPal into my account by friday. I have the first in my account already.

Back when everything for me was about; Rush, Yes and Blue Oyster Cult, I used to always have a tasty bit of Chorus in my sound.

Geddy always had a bit of Distortion Growl in his Tone. I never could I.D. it, so that must be it!

That's gonna be one cool rig, Garret. I'll want to hear from you again on how much you like it when its all together.

I like the idea of 2 15's. I had a Kustom 2X15 for about 20 years. I always liked the tone out of that big, goofy-looking speaker...but the matching head was junk.

I sometimes use a similar set up except I use an SVT head with the two 15"s. Sounds like a big giant B-15. I find the 300 watts works better than 100 watts. My cabs were made during the early 90's and were called B-15T's, they had SS 100 watt heads in them which I took out. You can sometimes find them really cheap on ebay, they have 4 ohm Eminence 15"s which go nice with an SVT head.
That B-18N is really nice except you were missing the tube cage, they're not very common and are going for $$ on epay.
Rippers had to have been one of the more aesthetically challenged basses basses made. Almost as bad as the 4002 (ducking) haha!

Jeff, I'm certainly going to be posting a full review.

This will be a return to a 2-15 Stack for me. I used two 15" JBL's in Peavey cabs for at least 15 years!

Hey Bob, sounds like that rig would rock too. As far as power goes, the B-15R is 100w into 8ohms. Add the B-15E and the impedance is 4ohms, thus power equals 200watts. And that doesn't really matter, the two 15's will definitely move air.

When I had that B-18N, I had a close friend who had a 60's B-15N Stack (only ~65w/130w) that he used in a early eighties Rock Band with three Guitar Players and he never struggled to make his presence known. I hung out with those guys for over a year. Best way to learn is to be around guys who are really doing it. They were great.

I traded the Ripper and B-18N to get my 72 4001.

lol...yes you should duck bob...find something that REMOTELEE comes close to my 4002 fretless i dare ya...remember i use no effects an a flat eq too..lmao
yes an i have sound clips to back it all up..the last sound clips i sent around are using a 2 year old set of rotosound swing bass as well..

Your's is an exception Ginger Lee, haha!
Garret, your tube amp will put out 100 watts tops into either 4 or 8 ohms, tube amps are not like SS amps, their top rated power is all they'll do if the impedance is matched, they'll put out less if they are mismatched.
A 60's B-15N is a thirty watt amp only. You might want to read up on the differences between SS and tube amps. A B-15S put put 60 watts as did your B-18.
PS. I hope the ahem.. salespeople at GC didn't tell you that you could get 200 watts out of that amp with two cabs as you can't.
Those amps have a 60 watt low power switch on them unlike the original B- series amps which didn't, the B-15R's are 60/100 watts.
You cannot really compare a B-15R to an SVT, they are much more powerful. The B-15R has the same amp built in as the V4-BH head which is a baby brother to an SVT Classic. And the 70's SVT's and V9's (Ginger Lee) kill the SVT Classics
