Two Important Questions

Post by KopiteRob »

Greetings to all Rick Forum crawlers:

I'm new to this. I'm just glad that I found this fantastic site. Anyroad, to get to the point, I purchased in August 2000 one of the Fireglo 4001v63 PMC LH (apparently) limited edition basses. My first Rickenbacker. QUestion 1: Where do I look for the serial number so as to register it here with the website (the warranty card already had it on there and I never bothered to look). Question 2: Exactly how many of the PMC models were made? I emailed the factory, but who knows how long that will take? According to Southpaw Guitars (where I purchased it), RIC started making them in January 2000 and according to Rickenbacker.com, they quit making them in July 2000. So, does anyone know? Cheers.

KopiteRob,
You can find the serial number on the jackplate where you plug in your Rick. If it is a 2000 model, it should have a 'OO ' on one side of the jackplate and a series of numbers on the other side.
You can find out the month and year of manufacture for your bass by going to http://www.rickenbacker.com
They have a serial number decoder there that will date your Rick. I don't know how many of your model Rick were made but it couldn't have been that many -- I've never seen one and I 'm a Rick bass fanantic!!! Good luck to you and enjoy your bass, If it is anything like my v63 it is a classic and will give you decades of good service.
"This is the big one, Elizabeth, I'm coming to join ya, honey!"
