I've thought of that too Jeff. I'd like to get a 3001, reshape it and move the bridge(I'd use a 4004 Schaller unit) up and make it a short scale. I'd contour the area behind the bridge like a 4005. I did a similar mod on my Hamburg 230. You honestly wouldn't recognize it. Pics coming soon.

it is a freakingly brilliant way to make a low cost Ric bass that would resemble a 4005 ...

Oh I would, but would the 2000 electronics really lower the cost that much anyway?

I know a guy that has a 230 guitar with a seperating fingerboard. he wants $400 for it, I'm gonna try to talk him down a bit for it. I wanna get one of these models.

Does anyone know what it went for? I was going to bid but decided to save the funds for the Rickenbacker event in August instead....
