I've used Mike for parts before, but I'd like to find an old style used bridge if possible. I have most of the other parts, but for the money you can't go wrong unless the truss rods are shot. I'm supposed to be back in the US sometime in July so I won't get to touch it until then...

Kendall, the tuners on this 4001 copy are exactly as those on the 1968 4001 you've bought from BunnyBass.

I've got a set of original klusons from a '68 4005 on the way, I'm still in Egypt so I can't start the repairs until then.
I'm pretty sure the 4000 is going to be white with a horseshoe.

I just got my 4000 back on the road. Slap a vintage horseshoe in it and listen to her sing. Mine sounds very much like a "rick", even with just one pickup and flatwounds.

The first and last ones you posted where the worst, especially with those "Buy It Now" option prices, those guys are crazy, considering the mutilation of those basses. I'm sure their reserve is very high too.

The black bass does look like it,s got the full width inlays...or are my eyes deceiving me..so it could be a late 60,s..being jetglo we can,t see if it,s got the headstock "wings"...and apart from the truss rod cover which looks original everything else has gone. Bet the neck,s great though if the serial # confims it,s a 60,s bass..

Sorry, but the black 4001 definitely is not from the 60's. I'm positive it is from the late 70's.
As to the '74' one, OJ dates to October 1975. A J-Bass pickup on a 4001 bass, of all the stupid modifications some people do to Rickenbacker basses! What on earth for?

these butchered rickenbackers confuse me......

If someone took a p bass, and added say,,,, a musicman type pickup to it.....you could forgive them....its the same instrument with a different pickup.

But people seem to want to turn ricks into something that they are not- totaaly different basses in fact, eg two fat humberbuckers and a battery.
