Indio, California had it's highest recorded temperature last week: 122° F...

I used to drive through there routinely from '72 to '76 on high school/college road trips between Phoenix and LA...usually tried to hit Indio somewhere around 3 a.m...

If anyone's passing through there, stop at the Denny's and say hi to Ila for me...if she's still there, that is...don't know why she wouldn't be...

122...that's g**d*** hot, buddy...
I didn't get where I am today by being on time...

I drove from Reno to Chicago about 9 years ago in July, passed thru some pretty hot places. Of course all the road crews work through that.

I hope you're getting rain today, Bob. We're getting flooded down here in the city, just pouring. No beach this weekend.

Would you believe a ten-minute sushower's been it so far? This is re-damn-diculous!

On the bright side, I won't be starting the mower this weekend! Image

This is how Zooey (my dog) and I chose to cool off in 95 degree heat this weekend. We headed over to Whidbey Island and hung out on the beach!

We had some thunder yesterday... and a hail storm. All of 12C, it was!

Cool doggie, Alisha. The only island I got to see was Vashon Island. We had a barbecue with some expatriate Aussies who live right on the water at the southern tip.

I worked on guitars on my shop in the City yesterday until about 6 pm, then headed home (10 miles north across the GG bridge). Got into the worst jam I've been in in SF...they had the bridge northbound chopped down to two lanes, so that all the day-trippers from SF who went to Muir Woods could have 4 lanes to get back to their places in the city. Took me an hour to go ten miles...got back home and it was 91F in Mill Valley, where it seldom gets above 82...my cottage has no A/C; with all the windows open and three large fans going all day, it was 95 inside! Fortunately I have a largish and cool deck; a pitcher of iced tea and a good novel saw me through until 9 pm when things cooled down.

Today, when I left home to come here to my shop, it was already 90 at 11:30.

It's averaged around 75-85 in SF the last two weeks. But NoCal has never been this hot, they say.

Thankfully, it's got a bit colder here... finally.

119 at Pierce College (near me) on Saturday!
No a/c in my house, so when we rehearse, sweaty guitars abound!

I'm reading about rolling blackouts in LA recently. I hope a wrench is not thrown into Ric's plans in August.
