Hello I'm new

Post by joebassman »

Just thought I'd say hello. I was also wondering if the old Silver and Black Rickenbacker basses pop up every so often? I traded mine about ten years ago and am kicking myself now(it was pretty beat up and gigged a lot though) I am probably going to be buying a new Rickenbacker soon but if a Silver and Black every came up I'd have to buy it for nostalgic reasons hahaha.
Anyway have a happy weekend!!

Welcome Joe- Yes the silvers are pretty rare and they've been around awhile so some of them are starting to get a green tinge to them. I believe Peter McCormack, the Forum moderator, mentioned having one. Someone thought that a picture I posted was a silver/BT, but it was actually a white/BT, a trick of the light.

One thing is for sure, silver, white and BT have been discontinued so get one and hang on to it.

Welcome Joe! I dig the silver/black combo too, and would grab one if it turned up locally. Being that you mentioned your affection too, I'm sure someone will remember that if one turns up, and will mention it here. In fact, I don't think a Rick shows up anywhere without being discussed here!

**** I knew I take heat for that I wrote that a long time ago (and in a really grumpy mood if I remember). I meant to just post the photo and not my myspace page but I was tired and my 120 minutes had lagged when I went back to try to edit. Don't want to start a war or anything. I'm appreciative of their accomplishments but think they're a bit over rated and it drives me nuts when there were American bands who had just as big if not more of an influence on rock music.
That's all. (probably get shot for saying this in a rickenbacker forum)
Thanks for the Welcomes!!

Joe, You are from Springfield. I'm originally from Holyoke. I bet we played the same bars back in the day. Do you remember Sheehans, the Zone, Theodors (Which is still there), Tic Toc, Septembers, Rusty Nail, Lemons, Z Street, Wolfs Den etc.

YES! I used to play Theodore's and September's all the time in the band Graphic Romance with Keith Kruser who's now in The Savage Brothers band. I still have some of the ads from the Advocate. I heard Springfield's getting pretty dangerous these days. Oh I played the Wolf's Den also in a band called Dead Reckoning speaking of scary!! LOL and I've drank at all those places.;-) Thanks for sparking my nostalgic memories!!

I played Springfield on Friday and saw a bust right outside the bar. The State police have been hired to help the local cops with the situation. Because of that I didn't even bring my #1 Ric to the show.

Busty Female Shop Assistant: Is this some kind of bust?
Frank Drebin: It's very impressive, yes.

Hey you're in the Donut Kings. I remember hearing about your band. As a matter of fact your former guitarist Rick used to jam with a good friend of mine Chris Connors way way way back! I didn't know Rick at all only met him once. I asked Chris how it was going with him once(like back in 1980 something) and he said he had joined a band called the Donut Kings(hard name to forget)that's how long ago that was. Weird how these memories keep surfacing I'm going to need a shrink pretty soon! hahahahaha That sucks about Springfield I seriously feel safer here in Los Angeles. I do miss Red Rose Pizza and usually go there a few times when I'm back visiting. (pizza here blows)
