How to capture You Tube video, and convert to DVI.

Post by lowendbob »

There was some interest expressed here on how to capture video from You Tube or other sites. I figured out an easy way of doing this if anyone is interested. I'm sure there are other ways of doing the same thing.
First go to KeepVid. http://keepvid.com/# and bookmark site.

Next go to your favorite web site and select video to capture. You Tube http://www.youtube.com/index

Copy the URL from the video, and paste it into the green section at the top of the page on the KeepVid web site and click download.
After the download is complete, right-click on the hyperlink and select "save target as".
Save the file with a .flv extension to your hard drive.

Go to http://www.effectmatrix.com/total-video-converter/ and download Total Video Converter and run the setup. It's freeware.
Once you have the converter installed you can import your video.flv files into the program and convert the .flv files to whatever you want.
I have been adding a collection of The Beatles and some other old bands and converting the video into .dvi files to burn to DVD later.
The only thing I'm unsure of is the screen size of the finished product.
Have fun!
Buy it before someone else does.

Total Vidseo Conerter is reviewed and downloadable at download.com:

http://www.download.com/Total-Video-Converter/3000-2194_4-10429299.html

According to the info there, it is not freeware, rather it is a 15-day free trial.

You can also use this free program to convert your .flv files.

*hint: If you use this link, scroll waaaay down to the bottom of the page to find the download link (download super ©). Then scroll waaaay down to the bottom of the second page (past the demos) to find the "real" download link(s).
