Randy, still the press was as much being lazy as kind. Whether they worried what they printed about him from a legal perspective or what, they didn't take the time to say (or perhaps know) how he really was said to be, a man with mental problems, or eccentricities, or both.

We all know when it comes to pop coverage the press are all too often misinformed, inaccurate, just plain lazy, or a combination of the three.

Especially when someone leaves show biz, for any reason, and wants nothing to do with the press.

And it was reported the sessions he visited were the Wish You Were Here ones, not that it makes any difference beyond the irony of it.

Glenn: Yes, I don't know what I was thinking. It was definitely the 'Wish You Were Here' sessions. He was too busy watching TV to visit during 'Dark Side Of The Moon'. I know what you mean about the press. For the Beatles, they had to have a brainy one, a cute one, a funny one, and a quiet one...

John, I got really nervous around the 1:41 mark. Can you imagine doing that now with that bass? Um...no.

XM40 Deep Tracks has been playing See Emily Play lately and it sticks in your head. It's a tune that stands the test of time. Dated, but a good tune.

A few years back I had the good fortune to meet John Waters and he eagerly discussed the Pink Floyd's early years. It struck me just how much he admired Syd and seemed to have a genuine affection for him. Perhaps he was one of the few people that truly understood Syd.

Floyd before and after Syd were like 2 completely different bands.

Before, they were quite amusing in a way, i don't mean to be disrespectful, but songs like Bike and Biding My Time were brilliant yet childish at the same time. There always seems to have been a lot of fun that went into these songs.

Arnold Lane is a guy who steals washing off Women's clothes lines for example. Who else had the brass balls to sing about things like that back then?

It was so unfortunate what happened to Syd, we might have been saved from "Atom Heart Mother" and had something decent instead.

A lot of psychedelic songs were childish by design. Kind of looking back through acid colored glasses.

P. Lane and S. Fields, while not childish, were songs about childhood.

Whilst I love DSM and WYWH, "See Emily Play" is my fav Pink Floyd song. But I'm a huge psychedelic fan.
