I echo Alisha and Howard's sentiments. I'm guessing I'll have as much fun hanging with normal people (well, I guess THAT's relative) as with whatever celebs that show up (maybe SH excepted).

I believe I failed to express what I was attempting to. I meant that my primary interest is meeting fellow Forumites/Ric personnel and it's my impression that the events, while they may be wonderful, will cut into the confluence time....relegating them to the afternoon with the shows occupying the evenings. From my experience there is generally not much conversation/socializing at concerts and these events, being out of my personal musical taste, are that much less attractive.

I much prefer hanging with "normal" folk, I just meant that out of any "famous" Ric players the only one I'd have any interest in meeting or seeing perform would be Lemmy/Motorhead. I realize that there are other unannounced things in the works....I'm just weighing the length of the drive, expense and what I "know" to be going on to see if it is worth it to me. I'm not trying to be a "wet blanket", just pondering my own situation. Image

OH man, what I wouldn't give to go.

I'd also like a chance to meet the "forum folks".

Medical reasons (a pending surgery for the Mrs. & the kids are back in school then) take me out of the ballgame.

I'm going to be SICK if Chris Squire shows up. Not that I'm a star struck kind of guy, but to meet the person who has had such a profound impression on my musical life, well, I'd just love to meet him. Image

Not to mention, BEN promised me a HAT!

Oh well, if I'm lucky, I'll live long enough to make the 100th Anniversary. Hey, I'll only be 70...its possible, isn't it?

Drat. I suppose that means it's unlikely he'll attend?

Chris has said he'll attend if I want him to. But he also says he doesn't want to play in any form. I therefore think it's a waste of airfare but I'm still trying to get him to change his mind about playing.

He's such a great part of the Rickenbacker history...it's a bummer if he won't be there.

I've seen YES nine times but I've never met Squire, so I'd be happy just to chat with him in a group setting. Then again, once he hears a room full of bass players attempting to play Tempus Fugit and Sound Chaser, he may want to pick up the nearest available Ricky to set them straight.

John, I'll tell you what: If he comes and agrees to play, he can use one of my basses. ;^)

Well, if he wouldn't mind making a stop at West Palm Beach Int'l Airport, I can loan him my 4001CS Image
