I think you guys are being to hard on the multi-talented Yoko. During "Jamrag" Yoko seems to look at John as to ask him if she got the words right. He must have told her "yes".

As for "Baby,Please Don't Go", I have the Beatles Cavern version and she sings McCartney's part note perfect.

actually, I have an interview with John and Yoko where he says exactly that.... it was unclear which album he was referring to in the part of the long sound clip I listened to last night, but he talked about the madness of beatlemania and how he ultimately found himself hob-nobbing with the exact kind of people he used to hate as a youngster ... so this album (maybe it was Sometime in NYC?) was just his way of saying "f**k you, you blindly adored me back then? Here, take THIS".

Back then in the post Beatle early 70's John was going through some major changes, thats for sure. He definitely was seeking to put as much distance as he could from the image of him being "a Beatle".

very excellent indeed, Dane! I saw the Mick play many a time as a kid at the old Jaunkee stadium. One cool thing is that Mickey was born on my birthday, Oct 20th... or is that the other way around?

I was once in the Mets dougout before a game and got my picture taken with Ed Kranepool (if anyone remembers him). This was at the time when Yogi was a coach. He came strolling by and hesitated for a moment as if to say "ok kid, if you want my autograph, now's the time".... but I was a total doofus and let the moment pass. I remember thinking "wow, thats Yogi Berra! wow, he's much shorter than I thought he would be".

From Lennon/Yoko/Zappa to Mantle/Ford/Berra .... is this a great site or what?

Kent, Ed Kranepool was a great Met. I remember him mostly as he was when he was older. I still have his baseball card. I was at a SF Giants baseball camp last week in SF and met some olde players. They weren't the greatest players, but they PLAYED with the greatest. One guy alone played with Mays, McCovey, Marichal, Perry, Banks, Williams, Jenkins, Koufax, Drysdale... not bad I would say.

Earlier in 1967, Ed Charles was the guest of honor at my little league awards dinner. I was on the "St. Anthony" team and we came in last place for 2 years in a row thanks in large part to my super-stellar playing ability. I shook his hand as I passed by to pick up my little plastic trophy.... which (for all you dads out there) at the time meant a WHOLE LOT to me.

But just so we dont get accused of straying too far off topic, here's a shot from the Beatles playing 'I Feel 'Fine' on Sullivan in '65. This clip is one of the better ones and it's funny to see Lennon flub the lyrics more than once.... fortunately for him Paul and George were chiming in and John's mistakes went mostly un-noticed.
