Mike Pender's Searchers

Post by searchers63 »

Hi, new member to the forum. I was wondering whether or not Kevin Healey still performed with MP Searchers? and also when did Steve Carlisle leave and is there no pics of the current line up?

Kevin Healey is no longer with Mike Pender's Searchers, he left about 2 or 3 years ago. Steve Carlisle left about 5 years ago. Barrie Cowell still plays Bass (plus vocals). Mike Pender Junior is on drums. Keith Roberts has come in on guitar and vocals. I haven't seen a picture of this line-up yet.

Thanks for that information Tim. Is there anywhere to find out there tour dates? I haven't seen them yet since they were meant to be at a show in 2003 but didn't turn up due to Mike PEnder being "ill" and Dave Dee took his place.

I had been wondering about the line up because all the places online still have Cowell, Healey, Pender and Carlisle as the band.

The last dates I have read for 2006, and I am not current, are November 18th at Warners - Holme Lacey and November 23rd at Butlins - TBA. I am not confident in whether these events are still scheduled though.

its so difficult to find out where Mikes Searchers are playing? Never seem to see them advertised now or on any tours. Probably never play up here in Scotland anyway.

While you might see MIKE PENDER'S SEARCHERS in Scotland, it is fair to say that it would be hit and miss.

It would seem that this group has been on the verge of ending on a number of occasions as a result of Mike's other projects.

The coming and going of band members over the past while would certainly seen to reflect the toll of Mike's tours with a number of other 1960s artists.

While there can be no doubt as to Mike's talent, the fact that his current band was formed in the mid 1980s may make the departure of this group less worrisome to fans than the end of The Searchers who have a history dating back to the late 1950s.

With regard to your comments Alan, Mike Pender does not seem to have appreciated the importance of the Internet and as such any information about the group online has been developed by interested fans and not management.

Alan

I am unaware of a Live CD, they are a number of CD's on the market credited to Mike Pender's Searchers and in some cases Searchers, even though it is Mike's band.

All these CD's feature re-recordings of the hits plus new tracks like Blue Monday, Broken Hearts, Red Ferrari, slow version of Needles and Pins and some feature Two Hearts.

One Cd sold by MP's Searchers also features Mike's only solo single It's Over and a track he made for a one off album called Class of 63 Falling Apart At The Seams.

It may be that you have come across something I am unaware of.

Roy,We have copies, they are not commercially available.
This is an ongoing project,2,000 people attended the event, there are a lot of shots of people dancing and crowd scenes,on advice we have to cover this area for copy right.
