Congratulations, Lars! Cool bass! I think the yellowing just gives it that vintage look!

What a nice bass Lars. Congratulations. I leave my cover on too.

I wonder, if exposed to sunlight for 15 more years, will it end up like this?

Image

"Unburst", the red has faded away.

Not at all Ben!
That picture is actually a Gibson sunburst (not so different from Fireglo) where the red has faded away completely. I was wondering: Has anybody seen Fireglo that heavily faded?

If I bombard my Mapleglo with gamma rays, will I get a Fireglo?

Red pigments are often unstable and will break down quickly when exposed to UV. The red (scarlet?) used to make Fireglo is remarkably stable over time. Except for the yellowing of the clear coats, older FGs are usually as red as new ones.

Must have been in a store front window or something to fade that much.

I like that 4001 a lot, Lars. As I ALWAYS say, Rickenbacker magic at its strongest.

Hi Lars.

Nice new one. Where did you find it? I´m still waiting for the white rick with black hardware, but the seller is lost. I can´t find him. Tried to call him several times but no. Arghh...
