Is Chris Squire Going to the 75th Aniv???

Chris has apparently expressed a desire not to play at the Confluence if he comes, and given the previous statement that his father may have passed away, a bunch of fans tripping over themselves to express their gratitude or their condolences is probably the very last thing he wants to endure. Neil Peart doesn't doesn't meet the fans with the rest of Rush for this reason. If we're lucky enough to have him show up, I think it's best to just play it cool.

Well, guess what? He's not only attending, he's playing a set at the House of Blues Show!

It's confirmed, a done deal, fait accompli, etc., etc., etc.

That is going to be a great event. Congrats to the Halls and their great product. I'm sure you guys are rightfully proud of yourselves. As an architect of products that I hope people will be interested in, I love to see such heartfelt interest in your products.

As I said in another post, the Jefferson Startship has donated soundboard recording rights to the Museum of Making Music should they wish to offer a CD. The other artists will all be asked if they'd care to "donate" as well. The House of Blues, on the other hand, has some licensing requirements which we still have to wade through. Beyond that there are some copyright and licensing issues for the songs themselves.

Ya know, as a fan and a “civilian” whenever talk comes up that so-and-so has these kind of “issues,” etc., my eyes, metaphorically speaking, roll up inside my head. Just give it up for the greater good. I know that’s too simple an outlook. And I apologize if I’m still stuck in the 60s mindset.

And, I don’t want to turn this into a dialogue about audience taping, CD trading, the Internet, etc. (My gosh I’m amazed on how we seemed to have avoided that ugly topic here for a long time.) I just want to point out that the Starship (ie; Kantner) has had a very open policy on these kind of things for a very long time and bless him for it. I sincerely wish you good luck with the other artists. I hope they will follow PK's lead on this.

WHOA! Just found out (sorry if people already know this) that Ryo Okumoto, Alan Morse, and Nick D'Virgilio of Spock's Beard will be playing with "Chris Squire & Friends" at the 75th anniversary thingy . . . got this off of the Spock's Beard website. What's funny is that Dave Meros, their bassist, plays a Ric, but I didn't see any mention of him being there as well. Hmmmm . . . either way, they're AWESOME musicians, so that should be really cool.

I wonder what Squire's bass would sound like with someone else playing it????

I think a good 75% of Chris's tone is in his touch and feel for the instrument.

I mean,, wow! How long has he had that Rick??? Its gotta be such an extention of his body by now.
