Wolfmother

Post by rikk »

I just discovered a new band from Down Under. They are just kids. Having said that they are no younger than Pink Floyd when they started. Just my current perspective I guess. Anyway, the bass player plays a 4003 MG. If your into MC5, Zeppelin, Uriah Heep, Purple you;'ll like these guys. http://www.wolfmother.com/

Where you been? Check the WOLFMOTHER thread under "Rickenbacker Artists".

A 70s Mapleglo Rick bass is pretty damn cool though...

Love that disc. Total Uriah Heep/Sabbath vibe. Saw them on Leno the other night. It's a 4001MG (skunk stripe).
The guy in MUSE (my absolute favorite band at the moment) is sporting a fireglo 4003 on a few tunes now too.
Hope this link works:

Personally this is the music style I always liked. It's the REAL deal. Just like the music I grew up on. So it's not "original," There was a lot of "original" **** going on in the 80's and 90's I can't stand. It's great to see kids that are influenced by Zep, Purple, Sabbath etc.

Cool band. I just saw their video on The Tube. I hear a Zep influence. Nice to see and hear the skunk striper 4001.

Anyone on the east coast should check them out on the current tour. The opening band is Dead Meadow, a more stoner rock psychedlic band where the bass player utilizes a Rick and the entire band use Orange amps.
Worth checking out a great double bill.
Too bad they aren't playing in Seattle, that is Dead Meadow. Let alone the west coast for this tour.

Their website only mentions a NY and Philly show on the east coast. Are they playing more?

Back to Muse for a second; I saw them in concert in Cleveland about four weeks ago or so. Chris played several J-basses and the Fireglo Ric 4003. I was disappointed not to see his Pedulla anywhere . . . the acoustics in the theater they played at are really horrible (it's the Agora) because there are concrete walls, so the bass didn't get as much clarity as I would've liked from Muse . . . even so, it was pretty cool to see him playing the Ric. Great show.

I believe Wolfmother are already recording their second album. Quick studies these guys are, no?
