Why Did Paul McCartney stop using his 4001?

I am sure it is just Rosie's schtick but it is very annoying. Charro used to draw criticism but in my book she is ok. After hearing her play guitar I let her slide on her kookyness. I know this might seem a little weird but she is arguably one of the finest flamenco players in the world.

Thank you Alvaro. I'm looking forward to getting her. I hadn't really planned on buying another bass...yet. In fact, I wouldn't have been looking for a Yamaha. It's one that I always put on the back burner because they never seemed available when I was looking and then their always seemed to be something else more pressing. Usually a Rickenbacker. So when John tipped me off to this I felt I should pull the trigger. Thanks again for the heads up John.

Ted, you're right: Charro is one of the finest flamenco players in the world...when she was quite young (before her marriage to X. Cugat, I believe), she was one of Andre Segovia's star pupils...

Now, back to the thread...what I'd (that's 'I would', Brian) really like to know is this: Why did Paul McCartney stop using his brain?

You'll (that's you shall) get no argument from me on that score...the problem is, the less these folks use their brains, the more society rewards them...

I kind of doubt that Ozzie, even at the pinnacle of his musical career, was making the kind of money that his near-cadaver 'appearances' on prime-time TV have brought him...

Charro studied under Segovia? I never knew that. I saw her on the Tonight Show years ago (when Carson was still the host). She did some kooky bit then Johnny pulled a guitar from behind his desk and handed it to her. She was reluctant at first but then started to play. It was amazing. She became quite serious and played a very a difficult piece with incredible flair.

Hey Brian, let me know when you get the BB1200! Wanna hear your take on it. That seller was only less than an hour up the road from me too. Also want to know your serial number so I can continue my studies on the serial number/dating scheme. It's bizarre to say the least! Mine is apparently a '79, but the number system jumps around, with early 80s units having very close numbers. Hope to hear from ya!

Hey guys, my study, as grandiose and pompous as it sounds, consists of maybe 6 or 7 numbers so far! Actually, any old Yammy s/n is helpful, but I've been focusing on just known BB1200 owners for now. And, there aren't many, believe me! Some guys I've contacted have been a bit hesitant to release the s/n, rightfully so I suppose. But, of the numbers I've got, it happens they span the production period, which according to Yamaha, is late '77 to early '83. SO, for you Alvaro, I cavalierly state that your bass is a '78, based on my other alleged (by owner) '78 in the file, numbered 002975, very close to yours.
Adding to the mystique is the total lack of any other logical dating info anywhere on the bass. No rout markings, no real pot code. They seem to be made by Noble, according to the EIA code. I tried contacting Noble several times, to no avail. Same with the pickups, some jibberish, but no real scheme. What I'd really like, which is asking alot, would be to get ANY numbers from your basses, be it pots or pickups and maybe we can figure it out! Might be a bit of fun, since we obviously all know everything that can be known about our Ricks!

Wouldn't it be great to know Macca's s/n? I'm assuming his is a '79 since that's when it showed up. Anyway, I think they're great, underrated basses, and they do seem to be quite rare. Last bit of trivia for now, if you search them on Harmony Central, you can read the reviews of them, including mine. So why not review yours there and post it. Plus, you'll see pics of how they looked with the factory supplied, but not installed clear pickguard. Butt ugly to my old eyes! Check it out.
