Some of us know who this is....
Around $8K+ for that 68 4001 by today's exchange with shipping/import duties.
Very few left like this for sure.
A very nice original bass, right down to the tuner screws. The strings don't appear to be on the saddles though!
I hope it gets to the States safe and in one piece.

More like US$7,630 I think, Jared, anyway that's what my currency converter returns.
I've seen that handle before... nbvbn... that's very easy to type, right above the space bar on your keyboard, try it and you'll see. That was my old password on the mainframe back in the day...

when I bought my 1968 4001 in 73 the action was about 5/8" at the 20th fret but I found a good tech who flattened out the neck ...
that neck was pliable ... I could bend it into a backbow with very little pressure ... with the right touch I could pull back and get more fret buzz ... with the wrong touch it would simply fret out ...

This is the bass I was talking about under the "4001 Body Shape" post earlier. It's at my local shop. They had it in there for £5000 originally so a K off for BIN is pretty good. though given that it's nearly $2 = £1 I'm suprised someone stateside bought it. The US is the place to buy for us at the moment as your stuff is crazy cheap now. It comes with all original parts but the Tuners had been replaced. They refitted the old ones to make it original. I didn't hear it in action but it looked cool with plenty of aged mojo. Wonder if they'll have the same joy with the 4005 they have in too. Congrats to the buyer!
