I've never been able to carry on a bass guitar, even when I've traveled with a guitarist that could bring his guitar on board in a hard case. It's always different John. Sometimes they'll let you take a guitar onboard and sometimes they won't. It might be a bit harder now with all that's going on with recent airline security measures.
