Nice "MC" fireglo Darren, that's going to be my next quest since I just got a "ME" to go with my MB and MD. It killed me to watch that mint MC sell on ebay in Germany, you know you're in trouble when you start looking for serial numbers down to the month, just finding a bass from a certain year is complicated enough.

Thanks for your comments Steve, Jeff & Mark.

Hey Mark, I completely understand your compulsion! A collector friend once told me that knowing where something is located is half the battle, even if you can't obtain it immediately. Sooner or later it will probably come onto the market.

You now know that there's a MC 4001 living at my place! Image

I've rethought my strategy and may not be so hung up on getting a "MA or MC" since I already have models that have the three different types of inlays. It would make more sense to get a "MF or MG" with regular binding, then I would have a better representation of the evolution of 4001's in 1973. Another one of my plans is to have the small inlay 73's refinned to a rarer color. My "ME" is scheduled to be transformed from fireglo to azureglo at the beginning of next year. And I think a regular bound 73 would look great in white.
