60's Headstocks vs. 90's reissues
You will find that vintage TRCs vary in size and shape. The ones on my '67 4005WB and '73 4001 are different from each other. The current reissue vintage TRC is different from both of them.
TRCs are interesting. While instantly recognizable as the company trademark, they do vary in small ways thru the years. In some cases a year of manufacture can de determined by the shaping of the TRC as well as general idea of what it may have been installed on...not a fool-proof method mind you, but there ARE tell-tale signs...
This is very interesting to me because I definitely prefer the vintage headstock or vintage reissue to the newer wide headstock. I'm not really sure why they changed to the considerably wider new headstock. I didn't really see how different the reissue was to the original until I saw your post. Thanks

I was going to post a picture of my smaller 1981 330 headstock but can't seem to make it work. Anyway the truss rod cover is smaller and "Made in USA" is parallel to the nut. Click this to link to a picture:

I'm not sure what the problem was, Kevin, but your picture was the right size and dimensions for direct upload:
I hope you don't mind my posting it for you.
Hmmm... post #2992 - palindromic! "A man, a plan, a canal: Panama".

Hello Gary,
How did you post the pic? From your computer after saving my picture to your computer?
What steps did you follow to get it to post?
I've used hotlinks in the past on other forums but that is not available at the Rick Forum. I tried to use the Posting link in the forum but maybe I'm missing a step or something........
Thanks for any help to shed some light on this.

Hi Kevin, I did save the picture to my computer's hard drive first. I confirmed that it was < 38 kb in size and less than 500 x 500 pixels in dimensions using my Olympus Camedia software (it came with my digital camera). Then I clicked on "Upload Attachment" at the bottom of the thread, navigated to the picture's location on the HD, and uploaded the picture to the posting.
