Just read this thread on-line. Very interesting!
"I saw EJ on Thursday night and was blown away as usual - this is the 10th time I've seen him and it may be the best he's played and sounded. But one little tidbit that should blow everyone away is that on the first encore, EJ comes out with: You'll never guess what?
Rickenbacker! Yep, he had a Ricky and played Bristol Shore and Zap with it. So much for not being able to get a sound out of those guitars! Geez, there was no appreciable difference between the tone of the Ricky and the tone of the Strat's he played.
In a one-word response: Unbelievable."

Hey, that's a great photo...a Capri with white guards....lovely! I don't think I've seen that combination before.

Eric Johnson, to me, is like an alien on the guitar. He approaches his tones and technique in such a beautiful way that I just sit there slack-jawed in amazement. His clean tone is just heavenly, and his dirty tone has so much character!
I saw him once open for Steve Miller. I was SO digging what he was doing (Venus Isle tour) and the rest of the crowd was just milling around and not really paying attention, which p*ss*d me off so much.
Steve Miller came on and was "Rock'n Me Baby", the crowd was going insane, I was almost hit by a FLAMING COOLER, I left immediately.
