From what I recently read CS took a few months off to hone his skills after the first incarnation of Syn disbanded and Yes formed. He said his main inspiration was Entwistle.
Luke - a whole year now???
After 25 I still can't get some of the stuff Squire, Lee and others did right.
But I'm pleased with the way I play.

Watching the clip that Adee posted, reminds me of when I was a kid and got Chris Squire's "Fish Out Of Water" album, about 30 years ago. I love that album. That album is a must for all bassists, not just Squire fans in my opinion. There is very little guitar on that album which was also played by Squire.
"Fish Out Of Water" is not easy to find on cd in the US. My cd copy was bought
in England. I do occasionally see that the vinyl record in vintage record shops.
Squire has not only influenced many bassists, but guitarists also. If you do not have a copy of "FOOW", you need to get one. His playing is excellent on every song.

+1 on Fish Out Of Water - my copy is a Japanese CD pressing. Great bass sound and playing, great singing - makes you realize to what extent he is a huge part of the Yes vocal sound - and beautiful songs!
Watched the rest of the video, I guess it's probably a Fireglo - there's a bit near the end after the bells start where you can see it straight from the front.
