The pickups in my 4001 are microphonic, but it doesn't matter because I don't hit the pickups, either with my pick or with my hand. But if the shoes are microphonic, then it drastically decreases the number of places to play. It's either between the shoes and the bridge, or between the shoes and the neck, but without touching them! No resting the palm on the shoes.
I'm going to have to play around with it. Unfortunately, I'm going to be out of town for a few days, so it won't be for a while, and I don't intend to do anything drastic right away. The insulator idea does sound interesting...
Horseshoe noise?

Harry,
Not tried yet - slept most of the weekend after highly difficult work week.
This week I SHALL get onto it. On playing between bridge and 'shoes - tried that already - I think the sound becomes too thin though and you lose the essential 'Rickness' of the sound.
Will experiment and see what I come up with. Don't want to lose my 'shoes by taking them off - I play finger style mainly so would make easier to play?
Cheers
Jo
