My 'new' 350v63

Post by ozover50 »

While Paul was performing his 'run of the mill' guitar wizardry today, I attacked the 350v63 I purchased a few weeks ago on ebay. A bit of a neck tweak, a restring and the usual Scratch-X/Zymol treatment worked wonders:

Pics don't do it justice but this is one gorgeous guitar - both to look at and play. An absolute honey!!

I am looking forward to giving her a bit of a spin Aitch. Not ZZ Top style though.

Will this be the one to meet my FG version in TO Howard? MB meet FG; the result is MG or FB?

Very, very nice.

Yes, Ron. I have the 330 here at Paul's home and I plan to give it the treatment today. The neck needs some work but we'll sort that out in a day or two.

The Gretsch will get its final buffing today or tomorrow - then it's hardware and electronics and we're ready to go.

You can never have enough nappies, Ken...... Image

The 350 is looking good, Aitch!

You sort have me concerned, Aitch. Are you just making personal adjustments on the neck of the 330, or was something out of whack when you got it? It was virtually brand new so it disturbs me a little if it got to you fouled up.

Please don't fret, Stan. It just needs a truss rod adjustment and setting up to suit my preferences. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it otherwise. It plays quite nicely as it is but I'm a bit fussy when it comes to the action.

I'll post pics of it alone and with the 350 when I've done the polishing. The 'Monty twins'...... I just love Montezuma Brown!! Image

Howard,
Please tell me about the Scratch/X-Zymol treatment. My 81' 330 could probably use a good clean and polish.Image

Unfortunately I won't be coming your way this trip - otherwise I'd be happy to give you a personal demo. Image

Good to know, Aitch. I understand 'action' needs. I was just a tad worried something had gone awry with the neck somehow during shipping.

Thanks Howard
I really appreciate it. I'll have to give this treatment a try and let you know how it works on my guitar.
