Lucky me!
hurray! i just bought a Jetglo 1973 4001 off ebay. Lokks amazing!
It has a Neck toaster pickup and a bridge Hi-gain, with the cap (i would assume)
Im guessing this bass will sound quite different to my 1991 4003
yes?

Owen,
Great looking 4001, Congrats. Your '91 4003 is very nice as well. I can't help noticing it is actually white. Does this bass get out much? I had a white 3001 (still kicking myself for selling it) and it turned more of a cream color in a few years. I was living in Arizona at the time and was on the road a lot with it too. I think I read somewhere that the clear coat is what gets yellowed and a lot of that is due to UV rays. Don't know if that's fact or fiction really, but I am very impressed with your 4003 and your new bass as well.

Robert - the camera is fooling you, my bass isnt that white. It has not gone yellow, as its not really that old, but it certainly is cream. Does it get out much? YES!!!!! its my favorite bass in the whole world and i never put it down. Since i got it in december i have done like 6 gigs and 45 rehearsals with it.

Robert ...
No I didn't refinish it ... I bought it refinished ... but the ric-o-sound was busted, it was wired up vol, vol tone, and the bridge was pulling up, the tuners were bent and there was rust on some of the chrome ... I replaced most of the chrome and plastic and electronics ... I left the wood alone ...
That bass has a neck to die for ... the only reason I sold it was to get money for a 2nd 4003s5 ...
70's basses look so cool in jetglo and mapleglo ...

anyone know,,,,,, how the output of the toaster & 70's bridge hi gain (with cap) will compare to a modern 4003? Will it really be that much lower?
