Welcome to the BB1200 club Brian! I'm currently getting the fingerboard on mine 'kicked up a notch' with an elusive, Guru/Yoda-like luthier located in the Austin, TX area.
I'm looking forward to putting 'er back to work when she's ready to go!

My first bass was a Rickenbacker...
My best bass is a Rickenbacker...
My last bass may very well be a Rickenbacker

Brian, a few thoughts. By all means try Jingle-Jangle's Scratch-X/Zymol thing, you'll be amazed. I did it on several of mine already, and, WOW. I got both products and the requisite diapers all at WalMart for under $30, with the diapers bieng the biggest expense, believe it or not. If that doesn't work, then maybe some finish work. Regarding the s/n, it IS strange that the number has only one zero. I'll get my thinking cap on. All things being equal, since it's a higher number than any I've seen, maybe that puts it toward the end of the production, say 1983. I'll see what I come up with!

No other info! No discernable pot code or pickup code. Just some random numbers. No info in the body routs either. At least on mine and a few others. You can take yours apart and have a look. You never know...A real CSI case! I'll be back to you though!

I knew that Steve. It definitely went off topic though.
