Hmmmmmm......VERY tempting!

When I was visiting my family in Arizona I got to The Bass Place - all about the bass player - really nice place, but no Ricks. Got my Chromes there.

What I wanted to say was my brother had gotten a Fender Squire Precision lefty bass and wanted me to show him a few things. Being I'm a righty, it wasn't pretty. Got it all set up for him though.

Wal basses tend to be on the heavy side, but this can vary depending on what wood is used for the facings. The pickups are amazing, very even. Hard to go wrong with buying one, they are super instruments.

Sorry guys. I'm pretty open minded in the bass world, but the Wal bass just doesnt do it for me.

For the cash,,, I'd rather pick up an Alembic.

I have yet to play an Alembic that I like (especially for the money). I played a Wal about 5 years ago and it had a great feel and fantastic tone. I would have bought one sooner but had a Ric jones to take care of first. Now that I am wallowing in Ric tone glee with my 4004/flats combo I'm looking to pick up a Wal since it is the only other non-acoustic bass I've played that I'm seriously interested in owning.

Alembics? I like them too. Visited the factory last December. I have an early 1974 Series 1. Far lighter than the ones they make now. My electronics have been upgraded.

I would have to say that, as powerful as the Alembics are know for -- the Wal is even more powerful with a myriad of tones.

Mike, I sooooo envy you. After Hearing Power Windows, Hold your Fire and A Show of Hands, I have been drooling for one one these basses. They have the most amazing active tone.

I dont know what it is,,but I've always had a soft spot for Alembics. I had a beautiful 5 string Mark King once,,but at the time I really didnt know what a 5 string was capable of and sold it. She was a heavy beast as well.

I'll have another some day.

I'm sure the Wal's are great basses,,but to me, the Wal era for Geddy marks the period when I believe his sound started going downhill.

Brian, that Red 21 fretter is really cool. If it was a lefty I'd be going in debt, LOL.. I would say that bass was made in 1996, if I read the sn# correctly. It has the older Wal hardshell case. Probably has a bright sound due to the Poly finish. What a beaut.

Light as an old Fender, man! I've had it 2 years. The previous owner was a professional and kept it up continuously. Upgrade was done around 2 years ago.

The first time I went to my local Wal-Mart, I was ******. I tried to get them for false advertising.
