Where's *my* 4005?

The recent 4005s for sale have got me interested again (after many years). The '79 on E-bay is lovely, but I'd be over-extending at $4500 (which it has now gone past with a few hours to go). Anyone parting with one or know of one in this range or less? Condition not critical. I'd be happy with one in need of restoration. Might make it OK to give it the finish I'd really like *AND* be more affordable!

Pardon the double posting - I put this in the wanted section too.

Congrats, Timmer! She's a nice lookin' one.

One of these days I'll get off my @$$ and buy one. I don't think I'll like it, but I want to give one an extended test run! I'm just WAY too attached to my 4001/4003's. My hands don't like to play anything else.

As I told Ed I've always wanted to check them out to see if I would like them and I thought I'd better do it before they got even more expensive. I have some other hollow bodied and chambered bodied basses so there is a very good chance I'll love this one too.

Cool. I hope it works out for you. The necks are the same sweet neck as a 4001. The issue for me is where to anchor my right hand. I'd have to have one for a while to see if I'd get used to it.

That's not an issue for me. I anchor on the E string, switching to a floating anchor when playing the E string. Nothing intentional, but rather something that developed over the years. Makes it easy to play a wide variety of instruments.

Congrats! I find mine easier to play than a 4000/1/2/3/4 as the neck totally clears the body.

No, but then mine has Hipshot Ultralite tuners on it, which may help.
