Legal/website question for John Hall

Post by mayhem »

John,

Once my bands website is up we're going to have a section for each member of the band (of course), with bios and such, including links to some of our favorite websites.

Can I include a link to the Rickenbacker site?

Oops! I've linked Rickenbacker from our mp3 site. I didn't know you had to ask first! Sorry! Want me to take it off?

I don't know if you actually DO have to ask first, but if it was my company I'd appreciate it. This way they have control of how their image is represented.

It is always a courtesy to ask any site owner before linking and there is some legal doctrine for doing so. The Gator case comes to mind.

We have no problem as long as it's to the opening, entry page only. Other links are always subject to change and in fact there's a "slippery link" in ours and other websites specifically to enforce this.
