Where are all the 70 to 72 4001’s?

I would expect Sergio to chime in on these, I believe this is his favourite Ric period.
Graham, all women are the same yes ? "Why do you need another bass?" They just dont get it ! I know its not quite the same but why do they need so much make up, shoes and clothes ? My answer is always the same "They make more money than they cost" No argument !

I usually get "You can only play one at a time" line. Then the "FACE" when I ask for another.
The best bass discussion SHE had was....It started with me saying "I know we don't have the money right now, but this is a rare bass, it will be worth a lot of money one day" the BOSS's reply "oh it will, do you have any plans on selling it in the future?" My reply "What are you crazy, do you know rare it is, do you know what this thing will be worth?" The Boss...
"Worth... not a damn thing, if you aren't planning on selling it, it's COSTING me money, not making me money"...I never used that line again.

"Freedom of expression is important, but I have learned that people want to know how much you care before they care how much you know."
The only time a bass player gets noticed is when he stops playing.

Here I am! You bet that's my favourite Rick period. Nice collection! Wanna take my two 21 fretters an add them to it? You wish!
On the subject of er... wives & Ricks, here's what my wife says about my Ricks: "They're beautiful, they're a sound investment, and there's a dollar to be made out of playing them in live situations." Wow!

A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.
Dave, what a collection! Simply awesome.
The most memorable Rickenbacker line to come from my wife so far, relates to my purchase of the Fatboy 1960 335F. I had seen photos of the guitar and awoke her early one morning to tell her how rare it was etc etc. She exclaimed "Why are you sitting here telling me about it...go and buy it!".
A week later the architect was drawing up our house extensions. Very crafty woman my wife is!

You're a lucky man Sergio! Owner of some great Ric's and an understanding Wife ! To be fair my Wife is ok about it..... she might be a little more concerned if she knew the whole truth about how many bass guitars I really have got though. Its just the same as its best that I dont know how much that dress, coat or shoes really cost ! I know that I bought the cheapest (new) Musicman Stingray a few years back, it was only £500 (wink wink)

Hey Simon, if it's possible could you give us some info on your early 70's checkered 4001 azureglo. Stuff like first two letters of s/n, known history, maybe some close up pictures. It would be appreciated very much. If the forum photo limits are a problem, email me and I could help.

hi Mark - my azureglo is MA xxx, I think that's jan 73 (I do in fact have a 72! its good old LG xxx, a very small-dimensioned fireglo!!, also lurking here are a jetglo 73 and a mapleglo 73)... like an ill-informed idiot I never made a note of past history from sellers, or even much note of costs and even where I got 'em!...er, combined with a TOTAL lack of comprehension of the dark arts of posting pics, you can guess why I don't post here too often - I'm ashamed! always reading posts and learning a lot here though, and if anyone wants a pic or two actually sent by old fashioned post with a stamp (!) that's no problem...!!! (hey, whenever I sit down to spend an hour learning about the internet, I realise its an hour NOT playing a rick, so that's my excuse...!!!!)
